Campionato Mondiale Entrobordo Corsa
The World Championship was established in 1938 for all inboard racing classes and in the years 1938-1939 it was held for the 12 litre and 500 kg classes. After the war it was reinstated and run occasionally for the 450 kg class and then for the 800 kg, the latter increased, from 1962, with the new UIM regulation, to 900 kg. Subsequently, new World Championships were held for other Inboard Racing classes. In 1969, with the aim of involving American motorboaters, the World Championships were also created for 91” (cubic inch) Inboard Racing and for those without limitation.
Since 1970, a new change to the UlM regulation has led to the abolition of all international championships for weight and restriction classes to make way for championships for displacement classes only. The World Title is awarded by adding the times of the three trials carried out on the same day. At the end of the 70s the same regulation in force for the European Championship was adopted: it was run over four events in one or two days but in a single location with a final classification based on the three best results achieved by each competitor.
