Centomiglia del Lario
The Centomiglia del Lario, conceived and created by M.LL.A. (Motonautica Italiana Lario di Como) for its charm and history is to be considered, together with the Raid Pavia-Venezia, as the most important classic in the motorboat long-distance races of the national calendar.
The race takes place on a route that from Como reaches the Isola Comacina to return to Villa Olmo. From its first edition, run in 1949, its success remains intact even if obviously, over the years, the race has undergone a metamorphosis of the categories of the participating boats. Initially, in fact, the Fuoribordo and Entrobordo Sport e Turismo were admitted and later the Fuoribordo Corsa and the increasingly faster and more spectacular Entrobordo Sport Unlimitati, to then arrive at the more modern outboard and inboard-outboard catamarans and the Off-Shore and Endurance boats.
The regulation provides for partial rankings in addition to an absolute ranking. Since 1970, the trophy dedicated to the memory of the great champion of the 50s of MILA, Mario Verga, has been included for the Fuoribordo Corsa and Entrobordo Sport classes. There is also the Centomiglia Trophy which takes its name from the competition, biennial and non-consecutive for the overall winner.
Among the most prestigious winners we remember: Tullio Abbate, Giuseppe Todeschini, Renato Molinari, Guido Abbate, Giuseppe Colnaghi, Sandro Gianella, Cesare Scotti, Carlo Bodega, Augusto Cornetti, Tarcisio Marega, Renzo Faroppa, Enrico Vidoli, Stefano Casiraghi, Bruno Ragazzi, Guido Cappellini, Tullio Maria Abbate.
