Racing season 1933
In Gardone Riviera in 1933 Ruspoli won the international competition of Garda, winning in his category. In the same year of races Ruspoli won, beating opponents with engines of more than double the displacement, the beauty of 12 cups. Our champion, not at all satisfied with the results obtained so far, in the same year tried again with success to improve his record. On May 16, inaugurating the new measured base of the Associazione Motonautica Italiana Lario (AMIL), in front of the Tremezzina (Lake Como), he improved his record with km/h 106.87.
This record did not last long, because Theo Rossi di Montelera surpassed it on October 5, 1933 in Bracciano, on the lake of the same name, recording a speed of km/h 113.43.
Between the two, Rossi and Ruspoli, a challenge was born that continued also in the 1500 cc class, where Theo Rossi was, for now, the leader having set, with his Montelera XII hull (Cinti-Maserati), the world speed record with 91.55 km/h.
On 1 November 1933 Ruspoli, with a new creation from the Celli shipyard, Niniette III, also powered by a 1500 cc 8-cylinder Bugatti with compressor (engine derived from the famous 2300 cc racing engine of the Tipo 51), on the basis of the Tremezzina reached a speed of 93.443 km/h thus responding to Rossi's recent record. Still not satisfied, Ruspoli improved on 17 December, on a day described by the newspapers of the time as having an "icy climate", on Lake Maggiore in Arona, with 94.83 km/h.
